We brewed this ale with the famous sake yeast No 7 from Masumi Sake in Nagano, Japan. On advise from Masumi’s master brewers, we fermented this ale very slowly at low temperatures to bring out No 7’s fabulously fruity character. This product is unfiltered and unpasteurized. Please enjoy chilled! Special thanks to Masumi!

250mL bottle, pours a very muddy, murky reddish brown with a miniscule head. Nose brings out notes of oxidation, liqueur, caramel and candied dark fruits -- I guess I get some sake yeast in there, but that could be confirmation bias. Flavour is rich and sweet, with caramel, sugary sweet fruitiness, and muddy yeast. There is a bit of a liqueur-like ABV burn on the finish, but it's nothing overbearing. The sweetness is a bit too much for me and the palate is too yeasty. Nice attempt, but needs tweaking.

Dobre wspaniale prawie, piwo zblizone do Barley Wine. Swietny aromat rodzynki, alkoholowe cieplo i w smaku nieco ryzowe karmelowe i drozdzowo chmielowe. Finisz przecgodzi ze slodyczy w konkretna taninowa wytrawnosc pozostawiajac rozgrzanie w gardle, alkohol mocno wyczuwalny ale to szlachetne tony smakowe i estry. Rum mi przypominal. Piwo ciemno miedziane bez piany. Wielki plus za opakowane. Mala butelka 25cl owinieta w czerwona bibulke i wlozona do Puszeczki. Bottled on 12. 2011. Polecam do przechowania i degustacji na specjalne dni.

Bottle, served in a snifter. 13.5% Batch 741 Brewed 12/20/2011 Best Before 12/20/2016 made with a sake yeast from Nagano. Not the best looking beer, it is a drab muddy brown but in the right light looks a bit better, no head just a few isolated bubbles during the pour. Big aroma, plum, candied fruit, caramel, gingerbread, a bit woodsy, maybe some light tobacco leaf , a brandied toffee? Very complex, reminiscent of a barrel-aged barley wine. Wow, again while you have some booze in the nose and a touch of heat going down your throat it is quite subdued. This has a great flavor: sugary caramel, sweet caramel, nutty, light plums but much more of a tobacco leaf vibe than the 3rd Edition I think... more fresh tobacco leaves than dried. As it warms up that tobacco smokes start to show up - this just keeps getting more and more complex. Less fruitiness, more sugar and malts. Great chewy bready body. This is like a warm friendly hug of a beer, I wish I was having it snug by a fire rather than on a swelteringly hot summer day in Kyoto but damn this shit is good.

Alkohol, svisker noe sylighet i lukten. Alkohol, med en del sødme mot brunt sukker og mørke frukter, noe vaniljetoner. Uten kullsyre.

Flaske 0,25l fra Vinmonopolet, Bestillingsutvalget. Mørk rødbrun. Veldig uklar. Lavt tett skum. God sursøt aroma. Litt frukt. Oljeaktig munnfølelse. Vanvittig fylde. Smaken er mandler, svisker & plommer. Varer og varer. Avslutter litt tørt.

25cl from Vinmonopolet, Storo. Pours slightly hazy deep amber with an off-white head. Malty with notes of dried fruits, yeast and hints of alcohol. Sweet, complex and quite balanced. A bit to much on the sweet side, but certainly a decent brew.
