We brewed this ale with the famous sake yeast No 7 from Masumi Sake in Nagano, Japan. On advise from Masumi’s master brewers, we fermented this ale very slowly at low temperatures to bring out No 7’s fabulously fruity character. This product is unfiltered and unpasteurized. Bottle 250ml.Clear medium amber orange colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, alcohol, wood, moderate yeasty, coconut, sake - rice, wood, alcohol. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, alcohol, sweet, yeasty, wood, sake - coconut notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20130328]

25cl bottle generously offered up at the 4de Gents Bierfestival, 2013, thanks Tim and team for gathering up some bottle of this. It pours with a slightly cloudy copper body that really has no head to speak of, so I won’t. The aroma offers up roasted malts, muted brown sugar coated pine hops and a sliver of resiny grassiness. The taste is smooth with a bit of smoke added to the experience. I also get cherries, thick sludgy malts, some sticky pine hops and then nectar sweet rich malt enhanced booziness. This is smooth and slick and a great sipper where the ABV is actually pretty well hidden.

Hazy amber in color with olmost no head - Fruity and yeasty aroma - good sweetness With fuits and a Nice alcohol heat in the back - Lingering sweetness, a little bit sticky - htis was good and nice

25 cl. bottle sampled @ GBF 2013. Similar to the 3rd edition but comes together much better & way better in my opinion. Dark fox amber, touch murky brown, nothing in the way of a head save for some bubbles. Nose is thick sweet toffee, pudding, pleasing light alcohol, caramel good, floral sake flourishes, flowery in a sake way. Taste is cake, sweet toffee, very tick brown sugar, quite sweet, caramel candy, mixed with some bitter floral sake, touches, light booze coming through in a nice way, concentrated sugar. Little carb. Really good stuff. Thx! to the RB Crew for sharing.

gents bierfestival pours amber, no real foam . smell is buttery, sweet. very thick . buttery , sweet. very nice. alcoholic, but no overkill .

No head, flat as a pancake, dark red beer. Syrupy, nuts, X-mas puddung, even some brandy. Sweet, Syrupy, Yet not cloying. I get indeed a bit of the benzene-like sweetness from a Japanese sake. Alcoholsweetness as well. Very slick, alcoholheat, slight spicy-peppery in the aftertaste. Ultra-sweet, but in a good way.

25cl bottle from Alko. BB 12/20/2016. Reddish copper with no head. Aroma is sweet, bready malty, but also quite hoppy, dark fruity. Flavor has smoke at first, burnt woody notes, sweetness, dark sweet fruits. Alcohol burns a little in the sweet finish. Quite enjoyed it, but should be enjoyed cold. Heavy stuff.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours a lovely red to brown with a nicely proportioned head. The nose is all about jam and biscuits - jammy dodgers strikes again. The taste is loads more of the same - strawberry jam and biscuits. The palate is medium to full bodied with a rich creamy texture and a very elegant.

Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb - Cheers! Well... didn’t expect that pour. Looks like a bitter! Swells sweet, biscuity and red fruits. Repeats this on the taste. Finish is more sweetness. Interesting, but hard to say whether it’s good.
