Süß-malziger, sehr ausgeglichener Antrunk mit milder pasender Würze, die, abgesehen von einer kleinen Steigerung im Mittelteil, konstant bleibt. Auch die Süße bleibt konstant, ordnet sich aber nach kurzer Zeit der nun wenig alkoholischen und vollen Malzigkeit unter. Zum Ende noch etwas malziger werdend, wenig herb, was ebenso wie die Süße das Malz noch bekräftigt. Zum Ende hat das Bier einen sehr leichten Alkohol-Touch. Gut! 8/10/10/11/8/10

Can in Paris. Clear, light brown pour with a weak, tan head. Soapy nose, some dark sugar and malts. Very sweet flavor, a bit artificial, sugar syrup, cakey chocolate, faint roast. Medium bodied with mouth-filling carbonation. There’s a bit of medicinal sweetness in the finish, faint dark malts, ripe fruits, cocoa. Nothing special

25cl bottle. Beautiful chestnut colour - like the other Pelforth beers, it pours a good head but it’s gone in a couple of minutes. The nose is a little elusive - I can just about tell there’s malt in there. On the taste there are toffee apple notes. The structure is average, the texture quite good and the finish a little cloying.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Reminds me a lot of Duchesse Du Bourgogne - tart and sour but also rich with a creamy dry finish. Good stuff!

Originally rated July 2005. This French dark lager pours a brown-red colour with a nice creamy head. The lacing is good and the retention is long. Very pleasant scent of roasted malt and nuts with a slight metallic background. The taste starts nutty and finishes sweet, going into the aftertaste. There is also mild bitterness in the finish. Reminds me of some Irish reds and the mouthfeel is smooth. I am rarely amazed by beers from France, but I would drink this one anyday. Thanks to Matt for sharing this one brought back from France itself.

25 cl bottle from Salling. Clear brown with small head. Flavour is dry, malt, sweet, caramel and notes of roasted malt.

Medium beige head. Brown body with light carbonation. Bready cinnamon aroma with caramel and spice notes. Dry-sweet perfumy cinnamon and caramel taste, quite intense, with herbal toffee and alcohol notes. Light body. Sugary, faintly hot, mouthfeel. Dry spicy cinnamon aftertaste with herbal grassy strawy notes. Fairly sweet. Really nice. Full of flavour, even if slightly artificial. (0.5l can, Carrefour, Langeais.)

65cl flip top bottle pours amber/brown, tan head aroma and flavors, caramel malts, light roast and coffee followed by hints of hops and bitterness, touch of brown sugar. Nicely done but too bad it seems rather dull and overly fake sweet mouthfeel.

Bottle in Strasbourg, France. Medium to deep red-brown body, thin off-white head. Cocoa nose. Tannic, roasty body predominantly featuring cocoa and toast. A weak vinous dark fruit character develops with warmth. Mediocre.
