On tap at the brewery and served out of the cask. Amber color with off-white head. I think the cask helped bring out some of the great munich and Vienna in this beer. Great malty aroma. Sour funk also explodes on the palate. This is a very nice beer and easy to drink.

Fall 2011 Ratebeer gathering. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky tan color with a huge beige head that faded quickly and left some lacing. The aroma was tart apple cider. The flavor was tart and sour with notes of Sweettart candies and apple. The finish was long and tart. Medium body. Eh.

Bottle at Hair of the Dog tasting room, pours cloudy orangey red. Aroma of sour fruits, funk and barrels. Flavour is very complex; medium tartness, some citrus, ever so slight amount of sweetness; high carbonation, with a sweet and sour finish. Very solid sour.

Hazy amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of grain, oak and fruit with a dusty note. Dry and fruity flavour with cherry notes. Slightly tart with lots of oak character - typical American sour

Bottle for rating 2,000. Gusher. Heavily carbonated. Dark murky brown with frothy tan head. Nose of oak, tart tropical fruit, caramel and yeast. Taste is a bit yeasty, lots of oak and sherry, some caramel and toffee and of course tart fruits.

Bottle thanks to Ben. Poured a cloudy orange amber with a light brown head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma was full of tart red fruits with underlying grain and sweet light fruits. Flavor was also full of tart red fruits with a bit of sweet grains and a caramel lying underneath.

12oz bottle at the new HotD Tasting Room. The waitress shook this up inadvertently and the bottle gushed bad. Pours out a hazy, translucent orange, amber with a frothy, slightly off white head. Nose is tart, vinegar, cherries, chardonnay grapes, butterscotch, orange peel, light tropical fruit. Flavor is tart, cherries, sherry grapes, light wood, port, vinegar, citrus fruits. Full bodied, tart finish. I wanted a touch more complexity, the tartness overpowers a bit too much.

Courtesy of sebletitje. Pours clear deep copper with off white head. The aroma is inviting with sweet fresh strawberries, assorted berries, some malts and then quickly moving into mild levels of yeasty tartness and some sourness. The taste is pretty darn tart and sour. Those notes mix with berries and cherry fruitiness. It tries to attain a nice sweet berry note but struggles up hill against bright levels of tartness. Into the finish sourness comes to the front to give the tartness a touch of depth.

Bottle Pours out hazy straw topped with a small tan head. Aroma was of sour alcohol, rotten apples, oak, and a good amount of sweetness. Taste was more of the apples along with some wood, barnyard, funk, light tartness and sherry. A little bit of a let down.
