Bottle at a ChrisO tasting, London. Pours dark brown with a light, frothy head. Big dark sugar and dark malt nose, some licorice. Stupidly sweet flavor, some tangy dark fruits, licorice, brown sugar, raisins. Big bodied with average carbonation. Warming finish with ripe fruits, more raisins and brown sugar, light dirt, mild earthy bitterness. As a slow-sipping dessert beer, this one is delicious; subtle it is not.

Bottle, many thanks to Theydon_Bois at ChrisO. It pours very, very dark brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is caramel, sweet coffee, over-ripe blueberry, blackberry and dark fruit. The taste is sugary latte, roasted malt, coffee, some underlyign alcohol warmth, caramel, molasses and chocolate, with a sweet finish. Medium-full body and fine-moderate carbonation and slightly sticky mouth-feel. Not really my sort of thing....too sweet.

22oz bottle thanks to Phil
Appearance: Pours dark brown, black in glass, with a medium sized beige head and good lacing
Aroma: Dark fruit, roasted malt, sweet caramel and chocolate
Taste: Roasted malts, sweet caramel, dark fruit, some alcohols and some bitterness in the finish
This is a nice sipper beer, let it warm up. It is pretty sweet, but it balances out the alcohol.

Bottle at home - 11/06/12 thanks to Sam for an IP trade in Denver. Massive dark brown body verging on black with a small brown head that soon loosens to nyadda. Dark dark aromas in the form of molasses, dried berry fruits, figs, prunes, dark sugar, malt, toffee apple and a whiff of booze. Heavy malts and alcohol in the taste with a sweet backbone of dark sugars, dark fruits and a little chocolate. Full bodied beer, limited carbonation and a well balanced beer with the alcohol, whilst obvious, is well disguised for 15%. Would have again (I have a 2nd bottle) but will probably share as this was not a beer to be rushed.

Pour is a dark brown with a average tan head. Aroma is dark fruit with some molasses and brown sugar. Flavor is thick and sweet with a big dark fruit and toffee. Finish has some brown sugar and a lasting fig after the swallow. Alcohol is kinda there but for 15% this is no problem as long as its sipped slow. Very tasty and all things a American strong ale should be. I am always suprised that this brewer can put out a big ABV beer that coinisides with its anniversary. Only 5 more years till a 20% beer.

I’ma gonna die. Killed a Bad Bunny bomber. Now for the real deal. Bomber from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark brown black with a creamy/fizzy tan head. Aroma is dates, raisins, prunes and arguably treacle and turbinado sugar. Full bodied. More than. There’s a touch of heat, but considering 15% it’s not important. I think the main flavor components are treacle and dried plum. It’s hard to find malt in this. It’s arguably a sugar bomb, but I’m sure it’s all dark, good and fairly natural. So it finishes sweet, but there’s so much flavor that’s not objectionable. Woosh! Quite a complex thingy here.

22 Oz. bottle shared / thx to sebletitje – very, very dark brown, very slight bordeaux hue, quickly disappearing mocha head, smell is very sweet caramel, peer syrup, malt goo, brown sugar concoction, bordeaux, very sweet taste, caramel, syrup, malt, lots & ltos of pear syrup, dark fruits, brown sugar, brown sugar, sticky, low carb. slightly bitter finish, warming, sweetness hits the booze pretty well, obviously zero trace of the 15 hops, might have been a touch more complex but this is quite nice
