Location: 22 oz bottle from WF-Columbus Circle, 4/12/12
Aroma: The nose of this one has a lot going, there are some dark fruits (raisins, dates), brown sugar, caramel, toffee, some licorice, pepper/spice, vanilla notes, some chocolate, molasses, and a little bit of booze
Appearance: It pours a cola-brown color with a thick, crackly, fizzy light brown head and almost no lace
Flavor: Tastes rather sweet, with the complex mix of flavor that the nose lead me to believe I'd be getting
Palate: This one is fairly full, with some stickiness from sweet malts, and a somewhat syrupy feel to the finish
Overall Impression: This is an interesting beer for sure, but ultimately it was a little to sweet for me. As I was drinking it, it became so sticky/syrupy sweet that it became sort of hard to drink. It is still a good beer with a lot going on, but it may be that there is so much going on it gets a bit muddled. Interesting stuff. I'm certainly happy to have tried this one, but it isn't something I'd want to drink on a regular basis.

Picked this up from a friend in a trade. It was case #2 out of 800+ Pretty awesome.
A - 1/4 head, coffee color head with a black amber brew appearance. Basic appearance really not too impressive.
S - Lots of coffee, bourbon, chocolate and whipped cream. The barrel scent was strong and awesome. HUGELY surprising at how amazing this smells.
T - Bourbon, coffee, mollasses and syrup. Loving the coffee smell.
M - 60/40 bubbles to liquid on a swish. Very light bodied and super drinkable.
O - This is a very strong beer. It’s strong, drinkable but the taste and scent are mind blowing. Remarkable how tasty this beer is. I had low expectations but this beer blew me away.

Pours deep mahogany into a jewbelation glass...Tan head quickly recedes to scant remnants. Dark pit fruit, chocolate, and licorice aromas. Thin with dark pit fruit, dark chocolate and dark caramel upfront lightening to licorice and soy before the lasting vanilla oak finish.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel. Thanks eyes_wide_shut. Really dark brown to black with a bit of light brown foam. Aroma of malt, light roastiness, a bit of chocolate, a lot of alcohol and some fruity notes. Very sweet flavor with lots of malt and chocolate, some caramel, nutty Nutella notes and a drier finish. Full syrupy body.

22 oz. bottle, split 4 ways, pours a deep dark orange with a small beige head. Aroma of dark fruits (cherry, dates, figs), toffee, caramel malt, some roasted notes and a bit of floral. Flavour of dates, figs, cherry and other dark fruits, roasted caramel malts, grape juice, brandy, but little booze coming through surprisingly - how is this 15%? Finishes with dried fruits (figs, dates) with almost indiscernible alcohol. Very complex, but quite sweet. Nice slow sipper.

12 oz bottle at the CDA Casino, drank in the hotel room while waiting for my wife to get out of her spa treatment. Pours black with brown edges and ruby red tints when held up to the light; has a centimeter-thick beige head that collapses fairly quick. Aroma is raisiny, caramelly, alcohol. Taste is powerful strong, malty sweet and meaty with only a hint of bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is oily, carbonation is medium-low. Pretty good, definitely a sipper.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with a small tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was complex and sweetish with notes of fig and plum and touches of pine and cola. The flavor was very sweet with strong notes of fig, pine, cherry and molasses with undertones of tobacco, raisin, cocoa and wood. The finish was long and sweet with lingering molasses, raisin, cherry and fig. Thick and full bodied. The alcohol was well hidden given how strong the beer is. Wonderful.
