Colafarget med tynt lyst beige skum. Lukter syrlig, vin. Smaker syrlig , cider, eple og har en vinøs feeling. selvfølgelig også syrlig finish.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 2/10/2011. Pours slightly hazy very dark reddish brown color with a small light khaki head with poor retention, that reduces to a ring of lacing that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of blackberry, cranberry, cherry, green apple, red grape, oak, clove, red wine vinegar, pepper, hay, straw, brown bread, leather, herbal, musty funk, and oak/yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of malt, yeast ester, and wine barrel notes; with good strength. Taste of blackberry, cranberry, cherry, green apple, red grape, clove, oak, red wine vinegar, brown bread, light chocolate, leather, herbal, pepper, musty funk, and oak/yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy/spicy tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of blackberry, cherry, cranberry, green apple, red grape, oak, clove, red wine vinegar, brown bread, light chocolate, pepper, herbal, leather, musty funk, and oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity and balance of malt, wine barrel, and fruity/acidic yeast flavors; with a nice malt/acidity balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied; with lightly slick and moderately acidic mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice Flanders brown ale. All around good balance and complexity of malt, fruity/acidic yeast, and wine barrel flavors; and nicely smooth to sip on with the moderate level of acidity. A very enjoyable offering.

50 cl bottle (7.5%) @ home. Batch 200: brewed 20.12.2008, BBE 20.12.2013. Rated on 26.10.2013. Aroma of sweetish cherries when pouring. But when I do a close-up smelling, there is mostly vinegar, tartness and some sour cherries. Flavour is rather tart with sour cherries, some oaky notes, tart berries and some pleasant(!) gluey notes. Distant lactic tones in the finish.Warming alcohol in throat. A bit better than in 2011, but no big changes here. 50 cl bottle (7.5%) @ home. Batch 200: brewed 20.12.2008, BBE 20.12.2013. Rated on 1.1.2019. BBE went five years ago but this is still going strong. The tartness and sourness have mellowed a bit and there's some licorice instead. 7-3-7-3-15=3.5

Brun med beige lite tynt skum. Kraftig lukt av kirsebæreddik og noe gjær. Smaker sur kirsebær men kjenner faktisk noe malt også. Ettersmaken sitter godt, lite kullsyre

In honor of my upcoming trip to Scandinavia I am having this 6 year old bottle of Haandbakk from Handbrygeriet(Norway) I got from Ezo beer. Made in 2006, aged in wine barrels until 2008, the label says best before 2010. This bottle is 6 years old & on opening it there was a weird brown gunk on the cap & rim of the bottle which kind of freaked me out but it poured a fine dark black-brown with wine read accents. The aroma is a sour tart punch of cherry. The flavor is delicious, a big sweet sour cherry bite! Which is amazing as there are no cherries in this beer. It is simply the wild yeasts & lactic acid. Very drinkable, a great sour beer!

Appearance: Dark cloudy amber color with a bubbly tan head that ends up in a thin layer.
Aroma: Sour! and acidic fruity. Some oak and vinegar.
Palate: Medium + body. Slightly sweet and a mild sourness. Acidic! Soft carbonation. Dry texture.
Taste: Slightly sweet and acidic fruity. Oak and some vinegar.
Overall impression: Lovely!.
Personal stats: Thanks a lot Ole for this gem. It could not have been better. It is actually brewed on my birthday! Batch 343. Haandbryggeriet #40 and RB # 3K (good food and a dash of Black Sabbath made the evening even better) I think this beer is the type you either hate or love. If you had given me this some years ago, I would have killed you…..

Bottle: Poured a deep hazy red color ale with a small bubbly head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma consists of deep sour notes with light tart cherry notes also perceptible and some quite funky ester. Taste is a mix between deep sour and tart cherry notes with light smoke notes and some barnyard notes also detectable. Body is full with limited filtration and low carbonation. Quite extreme though acidity level is balanced. Not something I would have everyday bit interesting nonetheless.
