Bottle, batch 289. Pours a very dark red brown, without any head at all. Aroma is balsamic vinegar, oak and berries. Body is full but with a rather thin texture, and flat to no carbonation. Flavour is sour with brett and sour apples, as well as oak and berries.

Grunerlokka Brygghus, Oslo bottle (144 NOK): Pours dark brown with no head. Aroma is straight up sour ale aroma, with a lot of wood. There is not so much vinegar or wine as there is this vague sourness. Additionally, there is a wee bit of fire and char. Taste is sour, but it isn’t extremely sharp, yet it is in no way lacking in sour character. Some sour ales fall short by not being sufficiently sour, but this jawn is just right. Furthermore, there is a bunch of wood, along with mild roasty notes. There is a whole lot of complexity, and a lot of it is difficult for me to describe. Superlative.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a medium creamy beige head leaving sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is sour fruit and raisin malt. Thin mouthfeel with a sour fruit and light raisin malt with light sour finish. Easy to drink a very impressive from haandbryggeriet.

Bottle at home. Has a slightly hazy deep brown colour and nearly no head. Looks like Coca Cola. The aroma is sour and filled with oak, wood, berries, rowanberries and tar. A powerful flavour of wood, wild berries, juniper and some smoke. A slick and sparkly mouthfeel, and light bitterness. This beer is nice and well-balaned, and with a proper touch of malt.

No head, brown to black beer. Lactic acid, acetic acid, fruity (red fruit), earthy notes. Wood, slighlty roasted, lactic acid, and a tad of acetic. Vinous character. Quite slick, bit oily, certainly not light bodied, despite the acid thinning. Definitely styled on Rodenbakk, sorry, Bach. Alexander, that is, not Johann Sebastian.

(10/03/2012) Bottle @ ACBF 2012: bordeaux, very dark, almost brown, no head, very tart, lots of cherries, berries & red wine vinegar, taste is very tart cherries, berries, lots of red wine vinegar, brett, strongly vinous, acidic finish but also a slight touch of sweetness to be found here, slight berry jam and even a hint of jam, body is solid sour malts, feels close to flat, lovely vinegary beer ///////// 500 ml. bottle. Early 2015. Wow, way more balanced, less to little vinegar. More restrained wine sourness. Awesome but no new score, didn’t bother with notes.

Draft @ ACBF 2012, Moen.

3/III/2012 - 50cl bottle @ ACBF (Moen) - BB: n/a (2012-183)
Clear dark brown beer, no head. Aroma: Rodenbach Grand Cru, totally. Also buttermilk, red wine vinegar, tobacco, sweet caramel. MF: no carbon, full body. Taste: pretty sweet start, caramel, sour punch, lemony, pretty bitter too. Aftertaste: very fruity, forest fruits, strawberry jam, woody, tobacco touch, still sweet. It's Rodenbach Grand Cru, but a little fruitier and sweeter, still very good.
