Bottle shared at a tasting at Dagan’s place. 2008 vintage. Hazy brown with a beige head. Sour lactic aroma with some fruitiness and oak. Pleasant sourish flavor with some lactic acid, a bit of brett, vinegar hints and a bit of malty notes. Medium-bodied. Nice.

(bottle - batch 249) Cloudy dark brown with slight tan head. Sour vinegary wine smell with hints of wood, fruit and funkiness. Medium bodied, slightly sticky with plenty of very fine carbonation giving great mouthfeel. The flavour is dominantly sour, but quite complex. It mellows a little with warming or standing. The flavour is vinegar, sour cherries and maybe under-ripe berries; there is a softer flavour that I think is lactic acid or something similar from the yeast and some spice. There are also, of course, hints of wood, sometimes quite clearly oak, throughout. It has a tart woody finish. Overall this is a very unusual beer. It was initially quite off-putting however the complexity and interest invites you to keep savouring to try to identify the elusive flavours. In the process it grows on you. Despite being dominantly sour, it is actually quite well balanced and enjoyable for such odd flavours.

31/10/2011 500ml bottle.

Bottle, KØ11. Good citric aroma, rather fruity. Cloudy dark red colour. Sweet and citric flavour, mild woodiness. Easily drinkable, but nicely flavourful.

11/13/6/13/12/13
