6/12/12/9/13/11

Head disappearing faster than pouring; fully hazy red-brown beer. Strong spirit and raisins’ nose, wood, banana, fruit on brandy and the effin laquer that got into the bottle. Quite sharp, but agreable spirit flavour - brandy or grappa - raisins, old dried fruit, fusels, overripe banana, alcoholic cream dessert and pastry. Dry, nearly tart-bitterish finish. Huge alcoholwarming and backthroat -burn, spritzy feel but not overly carbonated, medium bodied and very slick, oily, fiery. Well-aged beer, but 40 Euro for 50 cl??? I’m pretty sure the grappa that sat in the barrels before came out cheaper than the second flush. We could start omitting the stupid laquer-and-cord, dispense it in a decent brown bottle, and so be able to discard the cardboard box, and hey presto, we’ve saved 5 Euro a bottle to start with. For heavens’ sake, it’s beer!

2018-09-20, corked bottle from Birratrovo, Como, batch 09043, bb 2025, probably 9 years old, 5-3-4-2-8=22
Dull brown colour. Aroma/smell of apples. No carbonation, light residual sweetness, no apparent bitterness, light boozy touch, way too oxidized.
Not good at all.
2010-06-05, corked bottle, RBESG 2010, bottle at Domus Birrae beershop, Rome, thanks to Bruno and the staff for sharing!
10% ABV, 7-5-7-3-14=36
Cloudy dark amber color; low carbonation; little head. Warming malt aroma. Good body strength; as often happens, these high gravity (non)-Belgian beers, there is some vegetables flavor; sweetish; the Grappa appears in the end, it's delicate but nice. -t could be better with a maltier beer with less vegatables in it, and even with stronger Grappa touch.

Bottle: Poured a reddish orange almost rusty with off white head. Aroma is mix of barrel wood, faint grappa, fruits, and malts. Taste is very fruity with more wood and malt. There is a nice bite in the finish from the grappa. I personally do not like grappa, however in this beer it does things one would never imagine.
