Amber with a lasting white head. Complex aroma of fruit, raisin, port, grapefruit-peel, caramel and toffee. Dry, vineous, fruity flavour with fresh grapes

Bottle courtesy of Bruno (grazie signore!), shared with SHIG. Decanted into a large beer glass, leaving behind a cloudy brown suspension. Clear copper color. Aroma of port wine and brandy. Taste is similar to a barrel aged quad, very smooth, with port wine flavors, and alcohol at the finish. Amazingly good - I love grappa, but never would have thought to put beer into a grappa cask!

Bottle at RBESG 2010 Rome ... copper ... thin white head ... sweet berry ... little spirit nose ... sweet soft and mellow ... again a little spirit ... assume its the grappa i really like (UPDATE tried some grappa now. now too keen on its own but i dont like whisky on its own ... and its the grappa thats lifting this beer) very unusual.

Bottle 50 cl. RBESG Rome 2010. Pours a hazy dark amber golden with a tiny and rough off-white head. Dried overripe fruit and a little yeast - no real overripe fruit or barrel character in the nose but some alcohol. Quite a full body, rather low in carbonation, sweet dried fruit and nuts now with the Grappa barrel coming a little through. Warming alcohol finish. 050610

Bottle 500ml.[ Thx to the brewer ]. Alc. 10%. Clear medium amber color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, grappa, wood, moderate alcohol. Flavor is light light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, very nice mellow grappa. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20100605]

June 5th 2010. Bottle at Domus Birrae. Thanks to the brewer for opening and to Fiujiln for persuading him! Cloudy amber beer. A little mild grappa on the nose. Light dry palate. A little toffee malt supporting a mellow grappa - not overpowering. Finishes soft and dry. Very interesting beer - the amount of grappa is really nicely judged.
