Rating from old notes; tasted in its original Riva version many years ago and more recently in the current Haacht version. Cheap abbey dubbel for the Aldi supermarket chain, stable, sticky, yellowish white head, clear burgundy colour. Rather straightforward aroma of caramel, some herbal hops, some iron, hints of dried fruits and nuts; same for the taste, simple malt sweet, bit thin, bit metallic, but fortunately dark malts have effectively been used here so there are caramelly and even slightly bitter-roasted malt hints in the background; low hop bitterness. Very straightforward, rather bland dubbel, but still just a little bit more tolerable than that awful Leffe Brune or even Grimbergen Dubbel, if you ask me.

Bottle from Aldi. Dark brown colour, white foam. Very sweet dark beer with notes of caramel, dark fruit and brown sugar. Also some metallic notes. Not balanced.

Vacation 2013 @ Virton, Belgium. 33 cl. bottle @ the bungalow, bought @ the local Delhaize supermarket.

Ruby red brown with an offwhite head. Sweet caramel and lightly roasted malts. Lively carbonation and a bit too sweet aftertaste,

33 cl. bottle sampled @ Kraddel does 1K tasting. Procured by Kraddel. Cheers. Pours a brown amber with little tanned head. Smells like cheap chocolate syrup, cheapest foreign chocolate available, sugar, candy and some malts. Taste is oddly metallic, lots of copper and metallic notes mixed with very cheap chocolate syrup, bitter herbs, sugar, nuts and odd dark fruits. Feels ridiculously tampered with. Body is that of watery syrup. This feels like it should be part of the Floris line-up and I do not mean that in a good way. Drinkable I suppose.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a slowly collapsing tan head. Roasted malt, yeast and slight metallic aroma. Overripe fruity flavoured, nice roasted malt base and distinct yeasty spiced note. Smooth roasted malt and fruity flavoured into the finish.
