330ml bottle. Nice reddish brown body with a big beige head. Aroma is caramel, malt and brown sugar. Flavor is sweet, caramel malt, a bit roasted and somehow a bit fruity as well. A rather light body, but not thin makes this very quaffable and not unbalanced. A supermarket version of a dubbel abey to a ridiculous low price at Aldi in Belgium makes this a surprisingly positive experience. A great alternative for the skinflint abbey consumer.

Bottle, 6%. Clear brown colour, small head. Slightly roasted flavour with a little brown sugar. Not too interesting, but OK.

Bottled. Clear, copper beer with a reddish hue and a beige head. Dried fruit, malt and spices on the nose. The same goes for the flavor, but with some hops as well. Medium, a bit fizzy mouthfeel. I like the brunes, this is no exception. (070331)

Thick, creamy head. Subtle but pleasing aroma of roasted malt that can be picked up more in the mouth. Notes of treacle and liquorice come in the mouth after a while but this is in no way dominant.

Dark red-brown with a small, but rather persistent brownish-yellow head, leaving traces of lace. Green leaves, and dissolved brown candi sugar, molasses. Something salty as well. Sweet, with a very burnt flavour. Much more roasted, carbonised than real bitterness. Vaguely nutty. Nothing vague on the candi-like sweetness. Retronasal finally some slightly refined chocolate hints. Rather syrupy MF, sugar-laden but the beer itself is as thin as the rincing for the cattle. Very sweet, totally uninteresting brown ale (this is not a real "dubbel" IMO, way too thing. A blond isn’t a "tripel" neither). Strange, Haacht has made some better beers in this style, with their former "Mill’s" range.
