Second batch - August 2021.

Directly inspired by traditional saisons of the 19th century, beers meant to quench the thirsts of farm workers at harvest time, the Saison de la Senne is a beer of mixed fermentation. It is both bitter and aromatic thanks to particularly generous hopping, while at the same time developing a vinous and tangy character thanks to a blending with old lambic from the Cantillon brewery. Ripened in oak barrels for 9 months and listed at 4.3% abv.

Bottle @ Akkurat. Pours golden yellow, hazy, with a white head. The aroma is quite sour and dry. Notes of blackcurrant seeds and needles. Quite harsh mouthfeel. Sour. Notes of citrus, grapes and needles. Refreshing and quite complex brew. This beer has got more attitude than its 4,3%ABV!

(Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm, 10 Oct 2008) Golden colour, hazy, with huge white head. Tart, fruity nose with horse blanket, barn, green apples and old socks. Tart, fruity taste with notes of green apples, hay, distinct lambic flavours and a harsh, dry bitterness in a spicy, long finish. Excellent beer, combining the spicy, earthy notes of the saison style with the tart, dry notes of the lambic. Lovely beer!
