Hazy reddish brown colour, beige head. Sweet aroma, pear. Quite sweet flavour, pear, syrup. Sweet finish, pear, caramel fudge. Bit too sweet for my palate, but well made and giving enough room for the Hervé pear syrup to shine through.

Dark red-brown colour. Aroma and flavour are both very sweet but it’s still quite palatable. Fruity, syrupy, caramel, brown sugar, malts.

Cloudy light ruby brown colour, small frothy off-white head, dissipates slowly, good lacing. Strong fruity aroma, pear, syrupy, candy sugar, honey, dough. Taste light to medium sweet, light sour, pear. Light body, watery texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste light bittersweet, bit woody, herbal notes; doesn’t feel as a strong ale more like a light fruit beer.

Also tasted in the original Vervifontaine version. Powerful aroma, lots of pear from the pear syrup, chocolate, caramel, candied fruits, honey; candied fruits in the mouth on a caramelly, smooth malt base, bit resinous mouthfeel, sweet pear syrup clearly present, spicy notes, smooth finish with some warming alcohol. Nice.

22/VII/2012 - 33cl bottle @ Erwin's place - BB: 4/12 - (2012-744) Thanks to Erwin for sharing the bottle!

Little cloudy red to amber beer, small off-white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, caramel, very spicy as well, little chemical. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: spices, little fruity, sweet, cough syrup, very sugary. Aftertaste: spices, sugar, overripe fruits, bit syrupy. Original on the spices, but too sweet in all.

33cl bottle @ home. Slightly unclear dark copper to red-brown color, average sized off-white head that diminishes quickly. Smell malts, raisin, dried fruits, slightly caramel and slightly brown sugar. Taste is better than expected: quite a nice balance between malts, overripe and dried fruits, again raisin, lightly alcohol, light to moderately sweet and maybe indeed a hint of pear. Medium carbonation and medium body. Quite nice.
