Deep amber color with a nice foam. The aroma is of smoke, leather, dried fruits, pretty smooth beer with medium silky body.
The taste is smoky, bitter roasted malt and sweet caramel. Finish is malty, alcoholic and warm a very clean and tasty strong ale brewed with honey and peated malt.

750 cl. bottle sampled @ RBWG 2012 – thx to Benzai – amber with a white head, smells of nutty malts with a dash of hops, taste is not particularly distinctive or impressive caramel hops, some slight brown sugar, slight roast, medium bitterness, light hops, odd smokiness running through it, creeps a little bit up in the aftertaste, medium carb. & body, ok, certainly not bad but not particularly impressive either

75cl bottle @ RBBWG 2012, Antwerpen courtesy of Benzai.

A hazed dark amber barley wine with a thin creamy moka head. In aroma, a superb aroma of burned caramel, burned notes, chinotto herbs, smokey touch. In mouth, a good oily sweet malt with burned wood oil extract, lightly peaty, smooth and enhanced old ale. 750 ml bottle from Brilbecks, Syracuce NY, tasted with GRM, Probstk, and Mike H., Oct. 8 2010.

Very weird ale. Nose and taste of Halls sore throat lozenges. It’s odd. I’m sure it has its niche fans, but I’m not one of them. Rated 8/25/08

Bottle. A funky barley wine. Pours a cloudy orange-brown with minimal head. Malty aroma with some wild yeast. Smoky flavor with notes of ham and bandaids. Also hints of toffee and caramel. More smokiness in the finish. Almost no bitterness. Medium in body with light carbonation. An interesting brew.
