Deep amber color with a nice foam. The aroma is of smoke, leather, dried fruits, pretty smooth beer with medium silky body.
The taste is smoky, bitter roasted malt and sweet caramel. Finish is malty, alcoholic and warm a very clean and tasty strong ale brewed with honey and peated malt.

Nut brown and light hazy colour with an off white lasting head. Caramel and some fruity notes in the aroma. A fine toffee backround with some smoked notes. Also a bit fruity. Did go very well with some cheese. Not many smoked beer i fancy. But together with proper food, some are just perfect.

11.2oz bottle at Maxs. Unfiltered deep brown. Big time massive peat smoke aroma. Aggressive, almost like a whiskey/scotch. Underlying honey, some mild zestiness, but overall this is pretty brutal. Unique, very unique.

Bottled:
Muddy brown colour. Dense head. Camp fire aroma with notes of yeast and fruit. Flavour is smoke, yeast, fruit, dough and a little bit of alcohol. Tastes more like an unfiltered weizen bock than a barley wine.

Bottled. Cloudy mahogany colour, creamy head. Aroma of peaty smoke and caramel. Sweet with near full body and rounded mouthfeel. Sugar, peat and tar, some marzipan. Fruity and salty with mid bitter finish and some alcohol warmth.

Cloudy brown beer. Crispy palate, a tad dry. Smoky malt is immediately evident, but not overpowering. Smoke is well integrated with the fruit and the malt and this the smoke is balanced nicely. Finishes dry and with more of the same. Very drinkable.

Purchased at Johnny’s Off License, near the Vatican, April, 2009. Shared at Skyview tasting, November 11, 2011, and I believe that photo is my bottle. I liked this more than the other guys, maybe because of memories of my travels. Anyway. Medium sweet with caramel and malt. Very low carbonation. There is also an earthy, light peat character I did not expect. Dry for a barley wine. 3 years old should not be too old for this kind of beer, and I think it held up well.

Amber body with an off-white head. Hoppy aroma with some caramalts and a smokey touch: quite well balanced. Smokey, bit malty flavour.
