With its classic brown color, reminiscent of a monk’s tunic, Leön has a nice thick and persistent, hazelnut-colored head. At first smell, the fruity scent of fruit cooked in a wood oven fills the nose. Then, coffee aromas blend with woody nuances, which turn into fuller notes of chocolate as the beer becomes warmer. The heat of its 9% alcohol content immediately hits the palate, with a touch of sour cherries in brandy. This is quickly replaced by the taste of roasted cereals, which gently fill the mouth with notes of chocolate, cocoa beans and coffee. A rather sweet beer with a strong body, complex but very enjoyable.

Creamy beige head on a heavy particulated dark brown still body. Sweet berry, boozy & demerara aroma. Medium to full bodied, tingly on the tongue with a smooth clean back. Berry, plum, demerara, smoke hints, sweet berries & caramel tastes.

Bottle as Baladin Leon, BB 03/2019. Almost clear dark brown color, short frothy head. Aroma of grainy and worty malt, bit spicy, bit hay, butterscotch, milk chocolate. Some strange grassy bitterness, caramel sweetness and some spicy and nutty notes. I dont know what to think of this beer. On one hand it feels like a strong belgian dubbel, but sometimes also like a hoppy keller, and the third time the spices take over.

Vom Fass im Stone Brewing Berlin 2017-03 getrunken.Dieses rotkupferne Bier erinnert mich sehr an ein Abbey Triple. Nicht schlecht, aber auch nichts besonderes. Gut trinkbar!

Baladin Leön at Vrteška, with the ABV likely mistakenly written as 6.5%. Poured a misty brown body with a small off white head. Creamy aroma, caramel, rosehip, alcohol, toast and banana. So yeah, not the greatest but pretty adequate for the style. Meaty yeastiness in the taste on the sweet caramel, ending quite dry. Smells and looks better than it tastes really.

On tap at Stone Brewing Berlin. Served as ’Baladin Leön’. Comes with an amber color and a small white head. The nose is malty and sweet, later some caramel. Not very intense nose. Taste of malt and belgian yeast, full-bodied, some bananas and syrup. Nice sweetness at finish.
