Bottleshare at Leighton’s flat. Thanks to Daniel. Lightly hazy amber beer, massive cream coloured head. Palate is airy and mildly dry. Mild fine carbonation. Floral sweetness. Carmel malts. Tangy fruits, mostly generic but some plum notable. Seltzer. Light dry finish. Tasty enough, but a tad dry.

Bottle shared at the ’Beers of London’ Tasting MkII, Bespin Cloud City - Hyde Park zone, thanks to Daniel, 11/02/15. Hazed amber with a moderate light beige swirl. Nose is caramel, vanilla, spice, yeast, light wood, perfume. Taste comprises toffee, vanilla, dark fruit, woody. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Ok.

Bottle shared at Leightons pad. Many thanks to Daniel. Mostly clear amber, copper coloured pour. Lasting off white head. Aroma is spicy orange, biscuit, toast, apricot, biscuit. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, light caramel, orange peel, straw, Palate is light medium sweet sticky, airy carbonation. Ok.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Daniel. Pours mostly clear amber with a creamy beige head. The nose has rich bready malts, Belgian yeast, some candi sugar, caramel. Medium sweet flavor with simple doughy brown bread, mild yeast expression, toffee, dried semi-dark fruits. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish, lightly phenolic, more brown bread, faint grains, earth. Not bad.

Bottle from Mitra Bunnik, BB Apr 2016, large sample. Slight hazy copper color, big frothy light brown head. Aroma of caramel, spicy yeast, bit peppery, coriander, bit fruity. Bit dry in taste, slight sweet, some wheat notes, high fusels, alcohol, soft bitterness. Bit high on carbonation, although it could fit the style. I was pleasantly surprised by the Wolf 7 and 8, but this one is dominated a bit too much by yeast and alcohol. Ok, but prefer the other ones.

Lupus’ second beer, with rocky head and reddish bronze colour. Very estery, apricot, apple, strawberry, spicy hints, brandy, flowery hops in the finish with some warming alcohol; aroma unfortunately with some DMS (cooked cabbage) again, like the other Lupus beers.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, BD-AC-BD bottle coding. Pours fairly hazy dark ruby red color with a 2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big raisin, plum, apricot, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, caramel, toasted bread, brown sugar, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark malt, and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, plum, apricot, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, caramel, toasted biscuit, brown sugar, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness. Good amount of earthy yeast spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of raisin, plum, apricot, pear, apple, banana, clove, pepper, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, herbal, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, dark malt, and earthy hop flavors; with a very nice crisp malt/yeast balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Belgian strong ale. All around good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, dark malt, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle @ M Café, Leuven. Ruby amber colour, white foam. Medium carbonation. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit, banana and spices. Medium sweet, medium bitter. Good.
