Dark amber coloured beer with a dense rocky foam head. It has a fruity aroma with scents of banana and pear. The palate is sweet and fruity, with suggestions of apricot. The finish is strong and spicy, with a sweet, warm alcohol impression.

750 c&c from Star Grocery in Berkeley, CA. 8.9% ABV. Brouwerij Lupus! Label is similar to illustration, but the 9 is in the lower right corner, and the wolf is displayed against a Belgian map in the national colors. Pours a 5 finger creamy off-white head with a little orange gold liquid in the bottom of the glass. Damned if it doesn’t bear some banana and pear aromas. Nearly full bodied. Flavor seems a bit metallic, the fruit esters are present, and there’s some malt. Actually not all that sweet. Nor is it very bitter. There is bitter, but it’s not rolling over the malt. Gets fruitier with time. Light stone fruit. Not really noticing the alcohol. Except in my head. Not a top type, but a good exemplar. I’m liking it.

Bottle courtesy of a friend. Poured a clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is sweet malt yeast. The flavour is medium sweet, light bitter with a sweet fruit lifts alcoholic palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

Aroma of mixed, sweet fruits and yeast. Sweet dried fruits in the flavour although it’s quite mild. Lacks depth for its 9%.

750ml corked bottle. Amber-copper body with a big, foamy beige head. A pretty pedestrian Belgian Amber beer. Nice doughy mouthfeel, but the aroma is sort of bland and raisiny. Better than most US Belgians, but not really an impressive Belgian example. Doughy brown chocolate, toffee, caramel, rasiin, prune, plum. OK, close but not quite there.
