A seasonal beer only available in winter. It is usually presented on 7 December, the feast day of St Ambrose, patron saint of Milan. Over the years, this has become an important date in the Lambrate calendar - it marks the arrival of winter and the start of Christmas festivities.

In Milanese dialect, the term "Brighella" means "rascal" and is normally used to label particularly lively kids. It is inspired by a traditional masked character.

Tap at lambrate. Smell is spiced, taste is so too, but more 'fresh' than the belgian equivalents. Way less sticky. Not overcarbonated. Perhaps this makes it 'not truly belgian style' but I prefer this over what does seems to be the general type.

On tap at Bir & Fud. This Christmas ale was a vibrantly clear copper with a foamy head & a dank hoppy aroma. Definitely a different take than most Italian Christmas beers! Med-light bodied with a spritzy carbonation. The taste is bready sweet & bitter but well balanced. Maybe in a similar vein to Sierra Nevada’s Celebration?

On tap @Stavio (Rome). Clear amber with a big white head. Aroma is belgian yeasts, fruity, raisins, brown sugar, orange peel, some spices. Flavour is well balanced between sweetness and a decent bitter end, caramel, candy sugar, fruits, alcol is very well hidden. High body, medium to low carbonation. A bit simple, but refined and well brewed, complimenti!
