Bottle at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Dark brown colour with brief, frothy, beige head. Malty, slightly acidic nose with notes of dark fruit, oak wood, earthy cellar and balsamic vinegar hints leaning in the sour ale direction. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, raisins, prunes and brown sugar with a slightly acidic and woody touch. Medium body, modest bitterness with a sweet and sour touch. Really complex and nice.

courtesy of Tony @ OTH. Pours a ruby/amber, tan head. Aroma has the good connotation of Belgian yeast. Taste is filled with some nice dark fruits (cherry, raisin). Loaded with good dark sugar. Amazing seasonal beer, hard to put down.

Bottle: Poured a dark brown with a thick creamy beige head. The aroma is sweet fruit with spices. Taste is a burnt chocolate, very nice blends of sweetness and carbonation. This was an 06 bottle.

Bottle from Onlyfineales.com, had this 28-12-07 Some sasparilla leaps from the nose of this very dark brown verging on black beer with beige coloured head. Yeast and malt are the first to show in the mouth but these are quickly swamped by those sticky fruits, figs, dates, then toffee, its lovely and having had a good number of christmas beers this year and depairing over some of them this has resored my faith in the christmas beer. Finished with more fruit, soft mouthfeel very, very nice.

Vintage 2006. Dark brown with nice thick off white head. Malty aroma, with overripe fruits, chocolate and yeast. Flavor is sweet with dates, prunes and chocolate. A very discrete sourness and great complexity. Good balance and well hidden alcohol. Very good.
