This Japanese Classic Ale is a recreation of the first Japanese beer made in the Edo period. Please enjoy the Japanese taste, matured in cedar barrels like the old IPA style method from England. bottle-conditioned IPA. Chinook, Fuggles, and Kent Goldings hops are used.

Bottle from Best One, Bedford. Ruddy brown, hazy with very little head. Light grainy aroma with bready, caramel and papaya. The taste is... lovely, but really odd. Sweet at first with lychee and toffee flavours, giving way to a wave of intense bitterness for the finish. Lingering astringency in the aftertaste with shadows of umami grain. Highly carbonated. It's interesting. I disliked it at first, then grew to enjoy it. Worth trying but may not appeal to everyone.

Damn good, unique IPA. After a dozen of their beers, I'm still waiting for a bad one. Can they do no wrong?!

Clear amber to red orange beer, bit irregular creamy solid yellowish head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: very malty, sweet, raisins, lots of caramel, ripe banana. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter, yeasty, raisins, hoppy touch, some caramel, soft roast. Aftertaste: grains, pretty hoppy and bitter, some dried fruits, sugary touch. Decent, not super...

Flavor is moderate sweet with light bitterness and a touch of wood. Medium bodied. Finishes a bit bitter and woody, herbal. Interesting.

From bottle at Riga Airport 25.09.16. Cloudy deep orange. Diminishing off-white head. Aroma of apricot. Taste of apricot jam, with some sweetness. Soft bitterness is pleasantly lingering on.

Bottle, medium stable slightly dense bubbly head, cloudy deep orange color, aroma of shrubs and wood with a piney hint, flavor of shrubs tobacco fruit and some biscuity maltiness, medium empathic shrubby bitterness. Not too complex but quite satisfying.

330ml bottle. Hazy amber-orange colour with large white head, good lacing. Aroma of citrus hops, herbs and malt, something else I’m not sure about possibly wood from the Cedar cask. Taste is hoppy citrus and earthy malty, caramel notes, bready, pine. Bitter hop finish. Little bit different from a typical IPA, nice, interesting.
