Refrigerated 0.5 L brown fliptop poured into a weizen glass. Pours translucent tawny with deep golden hightlight and small beige head. Aroma is bready, medium body, medium/low carbonation, and good small bubble lacing. Taste is bready, some banana, and some caramel.

Pours a glowy amber brown color. Very cloudy. The head built up nicely on the initial pour into a tall weizen glass, but it faded rather quickly after the glass was full, leaving a scant few bubbles just on the surface of the beer. To be fair, my memory for lacing isn’t incredible, so I don’t really know how that compares to other hefes. Bready, wheaty aroma. Nice wheat spice. Some lemony flavor. Moderate banana. Mild clove. Some caramel. Similar taste. Very mild citrus tartness with a lot of wheat and malt sweetness. Not too big on banana, though it is kicking around. Bit stronger with the clove. Good deal of simple sweetness. Finishes with a funny bitter note, possibly from all that yeast kicking around. Carbonation is a bit low for a hefe. Mouthfeel is generally sorta flat and thin. It just doesn’t have the velvety rich feel of top examples. Not bad, not great. Probably better before it left home.

Bottle. Cloudy amber with a frothy off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts, banana, bubble gum, toasted bread, clove. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly to moderately acidic. Medium body, watery turning syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Tart finish. Taste of banana and bubble gum, toasted grain. Slight metallic aftertaste.

Bottle from Nina’s Mini Market. Murky brown body with a fluffy off-white head. Faint lacing marks. Aroma of copper, lighted roasted malt and red apple. Flavour of juicy pear, orange peel, sweet malt and peppery spice. Thin body with a watery texture. Average carbonation. Not bad - a bit thin though.

Bottle by Dohny, many thanks! Aroma wheat, yeasty, banana, clove. Typical weizen. Lightly hazy golden-amber colour. Taste has light green apples (huh?), strong malty sweetness, without weizen character. Finish has some spiciness. Out of all styles.

Bottle. Pours cloudy darkish amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of banana, malt, yeast and hops. Bitter, hoppy flavour, preceded by sweetish notes of malt and touches of banana. High carbonation. Watery aftertaste with sourish notes. Not bad as such but not very impressive, either.

(Bottle) Cloudy copper amber with huge white head. Little aroma - hintof banana ester and hint of bread. Medium body with excellent carbonation providing both a creamy mouthfeel and bright sparkle. Pleasant complex foretaste has banana, light malt, some peppery spice, but the complexity falls away disappointingly to a rather thin and sharp finish. Overall, a lot to like, but the way the flavour crashes is rather disappointing.

21/04 A 0.5 l bottle from Ammersin liquor store, Vienna. It poured hazy, darker orange body with small head. Very nice aroma of bubblegum and banana. Nice, slightly sweet flavor, not just plain wheaty, also spicy, cinnamon, cloves, peppery, with lot of estery banana notes. Fuller in body with longer, now typically chalky finish. Very nice and pleasant Weizen, indeed different in the sea of clones, however it’s not the dunkelweizen, both too bright for it and does not have any of darker malt flavors.
