Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of brettanomyces, wood, blueberries, and malt. The flavor is sour with notes of brettanomuces, wood, and blueberries, leading to a tart finish.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of Pinball. Pours a cloudy amber with a tiny off-white head. Tart, bretty aroma - with quite some fruitiness. Rather light body, very tart, some fruit - but not distinctly blueberry - pleasant vanilla notes and subtle barnyard and Brett. Yet with a serious sourness all through the finish. Well done. 131011

Bottle: Poured a light pinkish color ale with a huge foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aromas of sour and tart notes are dominant with some light blueberry also perceptible. Taste is a nice refreshing mix between some sour and tart notes with a light acidic edge with some blueberries note though very limited amount of sweetness comes through. Body is about average for style with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Very complex beer while retaining some great drinkability factor and some good complexity.

So I totally love this beer. Maybe even carnally. Because Le Bleu is a friggin’ masterful sour, subtly nuanced yet very distinct in all its multiple features. At no point does this beer overwhelm you with sourness or fruity sweetness or horsey funkiness or winey pretension. Le Bleu easily skates across your palate, leaving a tart, lemony swath of good infection at first. This sourness pairs perfectly with the addition of blueberries-- where the brett ends and the berries begin is a hazy amorphous blob, a unnameable, unshaped, but all too tasty result of waging bacteriological warfare upon hapless blueberry ale. The berries and the brett fade into postcoital bliss upon the finish, where they smoke cigarettes and sip red wine and contemplate their new living arrangements in your stomach. Le Bleu is no perfect beer; I guess, by definition, no sour or wild ale can be considered "perfect." But Le Bleu is close. Super close.

Bottle. Pours a deep golden color with some reddish hints and a fast disappearing white head. Has a fruity funky aroma with some hints of blueberry. Fruity and slightly sour tart blueberry flavor. Has a fruity sour tart funky finish with hints of blueberry in the aftertaste.
