Black Metal Farmhouse Imperial Stout, a.k.a. Iron Sword, a.k.a. Blackened Death, a.k.a. El Martillo del Muerte. Black Metal is a cruel and punishing brew fermented by the sheer force of its awesome will. Best enjoyed while pumping out blast beats, summoning trolls or enjoying a nice leisurely reading of the Necronomicon.

English Imperial Stout meets the Franco-Belgian Farmhouse tradition in this dry, drinkable beer; Pitch black in color with notes of chocolate, roasted and black malts coupled with earthy, peppery and floral farmhouse esters.

Admin Note: Through Batch #15 (released in 2013), Black Metal Farmhouse was brewed with a French Saison yeast.

Thx. to Dylan / Kraddel for sharing this one - reasonable amount of a 750 ml drank whilst ’At the Hearth of Winter’ by Immortal was playing which was for me always the only way I ever should drink this one - I am still convinced the guy on the label is Abboth - Farmhouse tag is not really all that visible on the label - it is like they are hiding it - looks beautiful - dark brown with a big lovely mocha head - smell is top as well with mocha, sweet coffee, chocolate, mellower sweeter dark malts and some ground coffee as well - lovely - taste carries some light weird off touches which sort of lessens the impact - it is the farmhouse yeast, not entirely working I presume - bitter roast, roasted grounds, lightly off-roast, even touch floral, light creamy coffee, lightly musty, cocoa, reasonable sweetness blended in - it is good but feels lightly off, which are the farmhouse ester I assume. still quite interesting - body-wise definetly and taste-wise I would say as well this is a fine stout but doesn’t feel like the usual impy one but first right in with the regular stout category where it shines a bit brighter

Bottle 75 cl. Pours an opaque black with a rich, dense and lacing beige head. Sweet heavy roast in the nose. Rich body, heavy carbonation, loads of roast, dark dried fruit, somewhat rustic with a malt bitter finish. Nice, but not really all that much farmhouse character. 100912

Bottle, 75cl, at TFODRBSG 2012. A big, tan head forms over a black, body. Lacings. Roasted, slightly yeasty and spiced aroma with some pine cones and grassy hints. Soft on the palate, lightly roasted, quite chocolatey and coffee-ish flavor, maybe a bit too heavy on carbonation. A touch of licorice and some roasted black peppercorn too. Lasting roasted finish. Certainly a nice one, but still... Maybe it’s lacking a bit on complexity or punch, it might be the yeast used, not really sure. 120818
