There I was, enjoying the complex blend of fruity esters and subtle spice, ready to have another of this extraordinarily smooth beer when, POW! I got that Velvet Uppercut. To be continued...

On tap at The Local in Bellingham, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma reveals notes of Belgian yeast and a touch of candied sugar. Flavour has notes of Belgian yeast, candied sugar and dough. Not authentic at all. Inoffensive but not very pleasant.

Draft at brewery. Very hazy glowing orange, canβt really see through it. Aroma is lemony and Belgian candy. Very light banana esters. Thicker body with tingling carbonation cutting through. Flavor is moderately sweet with low esters and a strong herbal (maybe people call this peppery) finish. This really balances the sweetness. An uncitric lemon character, light yeast dough, and a sharp yet airy feel. A really good stab at the style, hoping for even greater things with the next batch.
