Saint Petersburg is a fabulously full bodied chocolatey, malt flavours with coffee finish combine to produce a great Imperial Stout.

Saturday night brew for Patriots game. Pours dark brown with thin soapy beige head. Tastes of cola, leather, dark chocolate, light coffee, some peat, and malty sweetness. Pretty thin for imp stout but very drinkable and quite tasty.

(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Pikkulintu, 20111203) The beer poured black. Its head was Medium sized and white. Aroma had liquorice and roasted malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, liquorice, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, roasty and bitter. A good imperial stout without anything too extreme.

500ml bottle @ Pikkulintu
Pours black with a tiny white head. Aroma has notes of slightly roasted malts, licorice, toffee and alcohol. Taste is quite malty with notes of roast, licorice, chocolate and toffee. Finish is slightly bitter and dry. Doesn’t really taste like a proper imperial stout, but still quite good.

50 cl bottle @ Olutravintola Pikkulintu
Surprisingly light aroma has roasted malt and hints of grassy hops and butter. A bit german feeling here. Very dry palate. Flavour has roasted – almost burned – malt, some coffee and licorice. Interesting.

50cl bottle. Dark brown almost black beer with light brown head, creamy with good persistence. Aroma is to roasted malts, coffee, with hints of whisky. Flavour is roasted, moderate bittery, dark coffee, dense on palate, but the final is a little bit watery. Carbonation is flat. Body is medium to full. I expected more alcoholic traces in this beer; the alcohol is not so present in this beer as another in the same style.
