A full flavored Pale Ale, having a predominantly fruity palate with malt overtones, a subtle hop character gives this Pale Ale a delicate overall palate, making a very drinkable beer.

Bottle. Amber pour, white -beige tinged head, good retention throughout. Aroma of roasted malts, citrus, dusty hops, chocolate. Taste is very sweet with almost a chocolate-orange note, toasted malts, spice and a decent bitter finish. Nice rich ale with a slight booze kick but maybe a little too sweet in terms of balance (and this is coming from a cider drinker).

Deep amber with a small, frothy off-white head, and a sweet, malty aroma. The sweet malt carries through into the taste, along with some dark berry fruit, and there’s a hint of pepper spice in the finish. Very smooth mouthfeel, without any alcohol burn you might anticipate from its ABV

Bottle from TESCO Malts and nuts dominate the nose here. Pours a bright lucozade orange with a very transient white head – is almost as fizzy as Lucozade too ! It gets better when it hits the mouth, with treacle, malts and marmalade plus hints of ginger and spices. Has a dry fruity finish. Hides it’s strength very well – dangerously drinkable !

From old tasting notes. Deep translucent mahogany brown color. Bubbly tan head. Toasted malt nose hints at smokiness. Sweetish, toasted malt flavor is soft on the palate, yet deliciously chewy with a spicy hop finish. Long buttery malt aftertaste. Delicious.

A very good ESB. Lots of malt and caramel and overall very pleasant. It was a very smooth beer and almost Belgian from the taste of the caramel.

Bottle from Co-op in Lincs, drunk with a friend in good company. Copper-brown with an orangey hint. Smells of caramel, hazelnut, overripe orange peel. Very sweet taste but there is a slight earthy bitterness mid-sip. Very heavily carbonated. Medium to thick oily body. One of the better Batemans beers.

Classic meaty English old ale. It's not about the hops but a malt showcase. Ruby colour. Huge malt bill. Clean. Tangy. Really drinkable.
