Anker Blonde is brewed artisnally with the best natural ingredients by the established Anker Brewery since 1369. This top fermented lager is very refreshing thanks to its balance between pale malt and refined hops. Tastes quite fresh at 6° - 8° C.

Nothing fancy, just a regular semi spicy, with some subtle hops, and a strong yeastiness.

Sold as Margriet. Blonde, hazy. Citrus and flour in the aroma. Flowery hops, citrus and just a touch of coreander in the flavor. Slight hopbitter, even a bit oily aftertaste. Well brewed.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Yoav’s place. Thanks avrashi. As "Athos 2013". Cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma is spicy, fruity and zesty with yeast and some flowers. Yeasty flavor, spicy and fruity, with a bit of graininess. Medium-bodied.

Hefig mit milden Kräuternoten zu Beginn steigert sich das Bier im Mittelteil kaum sondern bleibt eher mild. Süffig, steigende Herbe zum Ende, feinfeinperlig. Ok. 9/8/8/7/7/8

Elegant thirst-quencher from one of my favorite breweries that has been sold under different names. This rating is based on a 75 cl bottle under its original name Anker Blond; also tasted as Margriet, which is apparently the same beer, but made to celebrate the women that have been in charge of the city of Mechelen throughout history; as the greek Athos version; and as the new Vossen Met De Meynen - too many aliases guys! Egg-white, frothy, lacing, thick head over a cloudy deep golden blonde beer. Aroma of coriander, vanilla, banana liqueur, soap, star aniseed, candied orange, apple cake. Sweetish banana flavour at first but in a ’candied’ kind of way rather than isoamylacetate, sweet perfumey spiciness obvious from the start (coriander and star aniseed, hint of curaçao perhaps), fluffy and smooth caramelly malt backbone, retronasal spiciness again (as more or less expected from Anker) not unlike their Easter Beer but a bit less strong, mild herbal hop bitterishness well in balance with the spices, banana flavour lingering a bit. Sweet and spicy is something you have to like in a beer, but in this case, the idea is well executed.

Had it as ’Vossen met den Meynen’. Anyway, it’s an average Belgian blond beer. Yeasty, with some fruits and herbs. Nothing too exciting.

33cl Bottle from Carrefour, Ermoupolis. As Athos 2014, ABV 6.2%. Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of fruity esters, banana, clove, spicy yeast. Flavour is sweet, fruity, yeasty, esters, banana, apricot, yeasty and hoppy bitter finish, light spicy. Light to medium-bodied, firm carbonation. OK Belgian Blond.
