Bottle . Pours dark brown, with a red glow. Small to good white head . Smell is bitter, tiny bit of coffee aspect, earthy , some hidden sweetness . Taste is bitter, some coffee, bit earth . caramel . Surprisingly sweet . Very soft carbo , light as well . Good, but less good than the other beers in the series even though higher ratings here ...

Ecaussinnes’ second beer, a potent ’massieve ale’ with a deep dark brown colour and medium thick, light beige head. Chocolatey and caramelly aroma, walnuts, candied fruits, raisins, brown bread, yeasty notes, floral hops; fluffy, mouth-filling maltiness, deep dark fruity sweetness, caramelly and chocolatey, slightly bittering in the end with indeed a kind of Scotch-like effect, and the expected warming alcohol. Complex and well-made, I really enjoyed this.

BOTTLE 33CL.
Look: clear ruby red with big east flakes, beige medium head.
Aroma: rich dried fruit, cranberries, raisins, a bit of alcohol make it feel like a fruity liquor or a desert wine, brown sugar.
Taste: very sweet, dried fruit, caramel malt, light spicy bitterness, no alcohol, medium body. By the time you finish the bottle, it starts to feel a bit cloying.

Strong dark beer with a yeasty body of malt. Has notes of dark fruit and fruity yeast. Good.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes dunkelbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, röstig, dunkles reifes Obst. Geschmack röstmalzig, stark malzig, überreife Früchte, Karamell.

Dark brown, medium carbonation. Aroma is sweet and bitter with a sour hint. Notes of caramel, nuts, dried fruit. Bitter sweet aftertaste.

Bottle @ home shared with Dutchdrebus. Clear red color, medium sized, quickly diminishing off-white to beige head. Smell malts, sweetness and a touch of herbs a spices. Taste malts, sweetness, some alcohol and again some herbs of spices. Medium and a bit fizzy carbonation, medium to full body. Nice beer, though the carbonation does make me not want more than a single bottle per night.

Bottle @ benzai. Brown to ruby colour with a medium beige head. Smells herbs, malts, some alcohol. Tastes sweetish, some herbs, raisins, malts, some liquorice. Full body, warming to the chest, medium to heavy carbo.

Sample @ DØE. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are yeast, fruits, malt, caramel and hops.

Bottle 330ml @ My parent’s place
Pours brown with a few floties and a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, toffee, alcohol and dried fruits. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light bitter with a long warm, toffee and fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
