(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, murky brown colour with loads of floaties and a mid-sized tanned foamy head. Nutty toast-malty aroma with notes of caramel, leather and a tinge of molasses. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a soft carbonation. Toast-malty base with caramel, chocolate, notes of dried fruits and a mildly vinous Port-like touch; moderately sweet, toasty malty finish with notes of dried fruits and chocolate. 26.II.13

330ml bottle. Pours dark brown with no head and the fizz shook all the bits up. Aroma is caramel, toffee and raisin. Taste is sweet with toffee and caramel. Raisin finish with a toffee aftertaste. Drinks below the strength.

Bottle: Cloudy, amber coloured, small off-white foamy layer, robust sweet-malty to toasty nose, caramelly and nutty aromas included, fruits and alcohol underneath; solid sweet flavour, some yeasty bitterness detectable, full bodied and a bit fizzy; lingering yeasty bitter and sweet malty finish, some warming alcohol in the aftertaste. Surely good, but not exciting…

75 cl bottle @ home, BBE 24.02.2012
Aroma is sweetish with orange peel. some toffee typical to aged belgian ales and brown sugar. Flavour has raisins, some orange peel and brown sugar. Finishes with distant vinegar, cardboard and moldy cellar notes. Also some warming alcohol in the aftertaste. The BBE date is quite exact; I have a feeling that this wouldn’t have improved with any more aging.
75 cl bottle vintage 2007? @ Timo A
Still sweet and lots of raisins. Well, it seems that I was wrong with the aging – if you do it in the right conditions. Harsh score estimate: 3.7.

33cl bottle at Alquitara. Brown colour with a large head due to the excess of carbonic. Head with big bubbles and perfect lasting. Metallic aroma with mild yeast traces. Sweet flavour from the beginning to the end, caramelish, burnt sugar and very slightly bittery in the final. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium to high.

33cl.
