Bottle at BCTC 2010. Pours semi-clear brown with a medium, off-white head. Heavy malt aroma with notes of caramel and toffee. Flavor is very sweet with tons of malts, caramel and bread. Some faint bitterness lurks about. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Finishes sweet and malty with fain alcohol notes. Solid beer.

Pours dark redish brown with light tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, berries and molasses. Very sweet and kind of boozy. Flavors of raisins and figs, brown sugar, Belgian yeast. Medium body with moderate carbonation. A decent beer but a bit too sweet for me.

bottle at home, bought at plan-b dark brown, giant thick beige lacing. fruity flowery slight sourish aroma. flavor is sweet, licorice, dark fruits, dark caramel, chocolate, brown sugar. good stuff. no sourness evindent in flavor, but probably somewhere underneath. the lack of overly sweetness makes the chocolate and caramel work real well in this beer. if blindtasted you’d never believe it was 10%, it’s more like 6% with lots of flavor.

Bottle, Belgian Belly, Chorlton. Very dark brown colour with a lorra lorra floaters. Aroma was sweet malt with some dark fruit and spices. Flavour was more sweet malt, raisin, yeast and nutmeg. The 10% is pretty well masked. Finished sweet too. Solid effort, but falls short of excellence.

A deep dark brown ale with a thick lacing frothy light moka head. Aroma of sweet caramel, prunes, licorice cinnamon and candy cane. In mouth, a very nice restrained sweetness, with light wooden notes, a bit of licorice, plums, and nice alcohol in finish. Very nice and balanced for its strength! Bieropholie import, BB 13/11/11.
