Amber ale with orange peel, grains of paradise & Coriander

Our take on the smooth, easy drinking ambers poured in cafés across Belgium, Rare Vos (Strange Fox) takes its name from a tavern near Brussels known for cycling contests, pigeon races and outstanding ales. Pouring a brilliant copper with a creamy white head, this bright, beguiling beer is sensational to session, and pairs wonderfully with mussels, frites and other pub fare.

Because at the end of the day, it’s good to enjoy the end of the day.

Pours an amber from a bottle, thick off-white head. Big yeasty aroma and flavor, well-balanced acidity. Good beer.

Bottle pour into shaker pint glass. Appearance is hazy light brown with decent sparkle, 2-finger width foamy beige head with good retention and fair lacing. Aroma is light banana, clove. Taste is light banana, clove and peppery spiciness. Palate is medium bodied with thick texture, lively carbonation and mildly sweet and yeasty finish. Overall, a nice beer without huge, bold flavors or complexity, and slightly over-carbonated, but very good nonetheless.

Bottle from a Lazy dog. slightly hazy medium golden color with a huge bubbly frothy off white head that takes forever to recede. Clove and spice lay heavy on the nose with some faint bready maltiness. The flavor is sweet bready malt light earthy big clove and peppery spice. Well made beer, but its a bit heavy on the clove and spice for my tastes.

On tap at the Ginger Man. Unassuming appearance, toffee nose, leads into gooey caramel and toffee taste with hints of Belgian yeast. Finishes fast, but this ones all about the flavor. Sly, indeed.

355ml bottle. Pours a hazy, dark orange with a huge, creamy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Fruity aroma of peach, apricot, orange, spice, yeast and a hint of caramel malt. Sweet fruity flavour, mildly spicy with yeast, caramel malt and a slightly tart, dry finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Well balanced but nothing special.
