Amber ale with orange peel, grains of paradise & Coriander
Our take on the smooth, easy drinking ambers poured in cafés across Belgium, Rare Vos (Strange Fox) takes its name from a tavern near Brussels known for cycling contests, pigeon races and outstanding ales. Pouring a brilliant copper with a creamy white head, this bright, beguiling beer is sensational to session, and pairs wonderfully with mussels, frites and other pub fare.
Because at the end of the day, it’s good to enjoy the end of the day.

Had to cart this fella across the boarder, thanks LCBO. Ommegang send more beers up here. Anyway... Coriander, grains of paradise, orange peel? Interesting ingredients, much more typical of a Belgian wheat.Pours a nice amber with a finger (pointed right at you LCBO) of slightly off-white fluffy head. Spicy nose, with that coriander showing up, cloves, a little bubble gum. Mmmm good. Soft malts, coriander, a little bitterness, smooth spiciness. Overall a good brew.

Bottle @ Christers. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of malt, yeast, spice, little orange, hops. Flavor is sweet malty, yeast, orange, fruity hops, spice, little alcohol. Medium body, lively carbonation. 050214

Tap. Pours clear amber orange, small off white head dissipates quickly, some lacing. Aroma is yeast, honey, apple, pepper, clove. Flavor same, fairly clovey, light sweet, little bitterness, yeast spiciness. Medium body, light carbonation.

On tap @ Blind Tiger House. A kinda cloudy orange amber looking one with a really dense and lasting medium sized just off-white top. Nice fruity nose with snow, grapes, some kebabish tones (that's kinda strange) and a hint of pears. Canned pears. Quite easy to drink really, some buttery hints perhaps and a little bit of caramel here. Other than that much the same as the nose. Nothing to special to be honest, but it's not a bad one at all. 18.06.2013

Pours cloudy, light golden-brown with a short and creamy, off-white head. Fruit, bubblegum, yeast scent. Soft, fruity, Belgian yeast flavour...mild peppery spice, apple and pear. Malty, creamy. Very nice and easy tasting.

Purchased at West Lakeview Liquors in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home on a quiet Saturday night. Appearance is a cloudy amber gold with a rich white head that rims around the glass. Aroma is rich in coriander, I can get the orange peel in there as well, rather floral. Taste hits you with coriander and spice, at first it’s a bit much but it settles down a bit after that. Finish is pretty dry. Overall decent brew.
