(Draught at Huxley’s, Heathrow Terminal 5, London, 22 April 2012) Golden yellow colour with brief, white head. Fruity nose with tart hints of apples and a touch of yeast. Fruity taste with notes of green apples and a touch of citrus. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Uncomplicated but quite drinkable.

Originally rated March 2005. Strongbow from England is one of the world’s most popular cider. It is a great beer alternative. Being a fruit (and lambic-fruit) lover, I enjoy a great pint of cider from time to time. Even though my girlfriend enjoys beer, she really likes the cider... and I think that’s better then coolers. Yellow colour with a bit of gold. Cider does not have much of a head in general. Aromas are of apples of course, with hints of grapes (like some white wines). The mouthfeel is quite dry and the taste is mostly apples. I’ve tried many other ciders, but this stays one of my favorite.

0.27 l bottle from Interspar, Udine. It poured lighter golden body with smaller head that lived only for a second. Weaker apple aroma, quite dry. Flavor was vinous, sourish and watery. Finish was dry. Utterly simple and deadly boring, plus not my cider style, though it wasn’t too offensive.

Tap. Pours clear bright yellow with tiny white head. Aroma is yeast and overripe appels. Taste is sweet and palate is dry, crisp and refreshing with a fizzy carbonation. Not too sweet like many Scandinavian ciders, but unfortunately not as dry as the French ciders. Very pleasant on a hot summer day.

On tap @ Cyprus. This is a clear cider with no head. Aroma is apply with some sweet sugar and some pears perhaps?. Really yeasty and nasty. Not way to sweet, just plain yeasty. You can sense some apple-like flavors, but it just does not taste any good at all.

12 oz. bottle. Pours clear, pale orange with little to no head. The aroma is apples (of course), and a little citrus. The flavor is very sweet and pleasantly tart. The palate is light to medium, crisp and well carbonated. It is a little astringent and acidic, but not unbearably. Overall, a straightforward and easy drinking cider.
