Similar to Belgian-style Strong Pales, the Tripel is often characterized by its lighter color, spicy aromatics, and complexity. Brother David’s Triple is brewed with copious amounts of pale malts as well as Belgian candi sugar, giving it a deep golden hue, medium body and rich mouth feel. The dense head gives off aromas of candied orange peel, clover honey, pears, and a hint of freshly mown fields. The fruity esters and spicy hop flavors balance the phenolic characteristics leading to a peppery, citrusy finish.

On tap. Plae yellow with creamy head. Mild and possibly citrus aroma. Barely any CO2. Taste is quite strong like many usa immo tripples. Not as civilized as I expected since the name almost made me think it was a true beldgy. Volatile, leaves an alky finish.

Draught at the Yard House in Waikiki. Gummy, candy, strange fruit aroma. Very sweet and fruity flavor with bad yeast character. A really badly done American Belgian style—the yeast doesn’t work.

This ones got a bit of age on it. Pours hazy deep amber into a snifter. Off-white head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Aged bread and pit fruit aromas. Sweet alcohol soaked raisins upfront turning to a dry earth finish and alcohol burn.

Bottle. Quite surprised that I haven’t had this yet. Pours with a mostly clear golden body with a rocky white head. Aroma of pear, honey, spice, alcohol, banana esters/bananas foster, bread and slight metal. Taste is alcohol, candi sugar, metal, caramel, honey, spice, vinous, and a bit of wet dog. Rich, nearly rummy alcohol flavor. Hot, slightly thin mouthfeel, moderate carbonation.
