Brother David's Triple

Anderson Valley Brewing Company in Boonville, California, United States 🇺🇸

  Belgian Style - Tripel Regular
Score
6.58
ABV: 10.0% IBU: 15 Ticks: 125
Similar to Belgian-style Strong Pales, the Tripel is often characterized by its lighter color, spicy aromatics, and complexity. Brother David’s Triple is brewed with copious amounts of pale malts as well as Belgian candi sugar, giving it a deep golden hue, medium body and rich mouth feel. The dense head gives off aromas of candied orange peel, clover honey, pears, and a hint of freshly mown fields. The fruity esters and spicy hop flavors balance the phenolic characteristics leading to a peppery, citrusy finish.

From notes, I think from over 10 years ago. Pours a deep golden to amber colour and a white head that quickly disappears. Aroma is sweetish, alcohol, with additional fruit retronasal. Flavour is moderate sweet, malty, a bit yeasty. Fairly strong alcohol feel. Medium bodied. Long finish. Decent triple, certainly by American standards.

From bomber to tulip. Aroma is biscuit, Belgian yeast, and jet fuel. Slightly hazed deep gold (near copper) with off white head that collapses to a collar. Flavor is southern biscuit, wheat and slight perfume. A bit harsh on mouthfeel with the alcohol very present. Slight burn.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 23 Feb 2018) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with dried fruit, apricots and a touch of coriander. Malty, fruity taste with notes of canned fruit, peaches, sweet malt, coriander and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. Full body, quite sweet. Not very complex, and a touch too sweet. But tasty and quite nice.

12 oz bottle with alternative label. Pours foggy light amber with small head. Fat malty aroma. Big fruit jam as well. Medium to full body. Sweet taste. Corn, marmelade, lollipop, light hopping. Well let it be.
