Classic Lefebvre tripel with hazy peach blonde colour and off-white head; yeasty and malty aroma, hints of caramel, peach and orange peel, white pepper, some ’jenever’-like alcohol; sweetish taste, fruity and estery, yeasty, a bit bready and caramelly, spicy accents, warming alcohol in the finish along with some herbal hops, but could use more hoppiness. In all: decent, but a rather average example of the style.

Bottle at Turisten, Ljungskile. Pours hazy yellowish orange with a compact big white foam that dissipates extremely slow, leaving plenty of lacings. Aroma is quite complex, with banana, citrus, some vanilla, slight yeast. Taste is fairly fruity and malty up-front with citrus hops and sweet flavours like pear and honey. Apparant yeast notes, a bit flower in the end which also is a bit dry. Full bodied, medium carbo. Appear simple at first but grows in complexity with each zip. Nice.

Clear golden colour. A touch of tart apple in the aroma. Flavour has a bit of sweet malt. Very neutral. Not unpleasant but uninteresting.

22 December 2018. De Garre, Bruges. Cheers to Madoc! Rerate of my very first rated beer. Pours hazy golden/amber with a lasting, small, foamy, off-white head; little lacing. Aroma of apple cake, brioche, cinnamon, cookie dough, grass, caramel, almond. Taste is medium malty sweet, hints of plum, caramel & brioche; light to medium herbal bitter after that, green tea supplemented by cookie & cinnamon, spicy touch, a bit grassy (hoppy) in the back. Dryish, grassy & herbal hoppy finish, restrained though, lingering caramel, almond, warming gin alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Remaining within the limits of classic Belgian styles, but still a very likeable beer.

Bottle at the Fiddler, Den Haag. Poured a hazy light amber with a huge frothy white head. The aroma is big yeast, light fruit. The flavour is medium bitter with a yeast alcohol strong bitter palate and a short bitter finish. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. An average Tripel. Nothing special.
