12 oz bottle. Pours clear red brown with a medium light tan head. Aroma is a combination of citrus, spicy, piney hops and sharp toasty caramel malts. Flavor is grainy toasted bread, piney and grapefruit hops, caramel. Good lacing, good beer.

Bottle, a gift form Miketd. Bright red color and a lacing head that never quite fades. Bitter aroma of hops. Good flavor, dry overall. The malt is lightly sweet, but the bitter hops are more prominent. Very good, thanks Mike.

12 oz bottle (BB dated Nov 23 06) from iowaherkeye; Nose of caramel, floral hops, and toffee; rusty red color with a medium beige head; flavor is hop bitterness, maple, and som ebrown sugar; finish is bitter!

12 oz. bottle from MrBendo. Pour is orange maroon, clear with tiny carbonation bubbles and a two inch dirty white head that is pretty lasting. Aroma of sweet biscuit malt and bright pine hoppiness. Some earthiness in there also. Taste starts with maltiness, is very lively in the middle with some nice spiciness, and a very dry pine resin hop finish. Some burnt char character in here too. A touch thin on the palate which made this a bit less complex bit crazy drinkable for an 8 percent beer. Nice one.

This ale poured a cloudy dark orange colour with a dirty tan head. Similar to apple cider. To the nose it had scents of ripe fruit, dough, cider and some earthy notes...nutmeg??? First taste instantly had flavours of over steeped tea. Very hoppy palate with a bitter finish. Tea, tea and more tea flavours. Right through the palate. Speaking of which, it was very bitter.

12oz bottle that looks to be more than a year old if I’m reading the label correctly. It pours a crystal clear amber with off white head. The aroma is pretty solid with pine like hops, rich roasted malts and sweet caramelized malts. The taste is full and aggressive. The pine hoppiness hits hard up front and slowly gives up ground to roasted malts and sweet crystal malts. The hop assertiveness never recedes. The malts seem to struggle to reach the hop flavor plateau but just don’t have enough juice to pull it off. The malts whimper off into the background toward the finish and allow the hoppiness to shine though. It seems a bit thin somehow.

Nice malty start balanced with a hop finish, though no better than many other beers brewed in this style. Red pour with short tan head. Sweet malt aroma of caramel and fruit , peach and strawberry, followed by some bready malts and citrusy hops. Flavor is sweet to begin with, but quickly turns bitter and that sticks around through the finish. Medium body with watery texture. Prickly carbonation. Moderately long finish. Solid and pleasant enough, but lacks distinction.

my first american strong ale. Had this on tap at the Bocktown Bar in Robinson Twp. Has the aroma of sweet hoppyness. Pours brown crean soda - not too dark. Did not see too much red! Pretty hoppy taste impact with hints of orange or grapefruit citrus. Has an imposing personality about it. You can tell there are lots of hops in there. Finish is as astringent linger that lasts and lasts. Too much for me.

Bottle courtesy of Tpaliga: Poured a medium amber color ale with a small dirty white foamy head with average retention. Aroma of sweet malt with some bitter hops is interesting. Taste of sweet malt is easily shadowed by the citrus and bitter hops. Body is a bit light and lighter filtration would have been preferred. Alcohol is not dominant and well controlled. Good take on a style that I do not enjoyed particularly but that is always interesting to try.
