Cask at Sun Inn. Pours a deep brown with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has nice roasted malts with dark grains and a hint of dryness. Flavor has dry dark grains and roasted malts throughout.

Black beer, creamy head. Not much aroma. Taste is earthy malt, bitter chocolate, some tangy fruit slightly cutting through it. Very rich, dry aftertaste. Lovely.

Pours a near black colour with medium sized creamy beige head that dissipated to a thin film. Roasted malt, licorice, and bitter chocolate aroma. Dry, roasted malt, treacle, licorice and bitter coffee ground flavours. A dry lingering bitterness in the finish.

Bottle from Booths, Kirkby Lonsdale. Appearance - opaque black with an attractive fawn head. Nose - burnt toast, toffee, some honeycomb perhaps. Taste - liquorice, smoke, molasses, that kind of thing. Palate - close to medium bodied. The texture is both dry and creamy, if that makes sense. The finish is dry and crunchy. Overall - yep, good stout at session strength.
