Bottle from Booths, Kirkby Lonsdale. Appearance - opaque black with an attractive fawn head. Nose - burnt toast, toffee, some honeycomb perhaps. Taste - liquorice, smoke, molasses, that kind of thing. Palate - close to medium bodied. The texture is both dry and creamy, if that makes sense. The finish is dry and crunchy. Overall - yep, good stout at session strength.

Bottle shared at Leightonโs place. 25/08/2015. From ASDA. Chestnut brown coloured pour with reddy hues with a big frothy cream head. Aroma is nut roast, oyster salty notes, black malt, malt extract. Some meaty notes. Flavour is composed of drying black malts, dried malt extract, raisin, nutty and some dried fruits. Palate is highish carbonation, low body, watery. Ok, not much to it.

Bottle. Nose is dark malts, bread and a lot of treacle. Taste is treacle, dark malts, red berry, hint of chocolate in the finish. Slight off sour note. Mouthfeel is thin. Itโs a serviceable supermarket stout.

Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours clear deep brown with a decent off - white head. The nose is toasty, earthy roast, mild berry sweetness, touch of plastic and light spice. The taste is bitter, toasty, watery, weak roast, pepper, light ashy charred character and a touch of astringency with a dry, numbing finish. Light - medium body and fine carbonation. A bit weak and washy-washy. So-so.

Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Fergus. Pours clear ruby-brown with a frothy tan head. The nose has toasty bread, light perfume, dried berries. Light sweet flavor with dried fruits, figs, berries, bread, faint toffee. Light bodied with fine carbonation and velvety texture. Moderately sweet on the finish, with more toasty bread, ripe and dried berries, faint roast. Perfectly drinkable, but very basic.

Bottle. Appearance is nearly black, with a one finger off white head which disappears quickly. Aroma- malty, roast hints, some dark fruit, chocolate. Roasty chocolatey taste, smooth mouthfeel, hints of chocolate, some caramel in the finish. Ok stout.

500ml bottle from Asda. Colour is dark brown with a small biege head. Aroma of malt, chocolate, and coffee. Taste is sweet malt, chocolate, dark sugars, coffee, and some hops. A bit watery.
