Harpoon Dark is a Harpooner favorite, and has been since we first started brewing it. While the beer has never been our lead horse outside the brewery walls, that’s okay by us. We’re just happy brewing it and drinking it.
A blend of specialty malts gives our Dark a velvety mouthfeel with roasted notes and a hint of chocolate, balanced by a subtle hop aroma. Hard to describe but easy to drink, Harpoon Dark is rich in character and light on the palate. The overall character is hearty malt and chocolate balanced with a crisp hop bitterness.

A decent beer, had this one at Sevens Bar in Beacon Hill, advertised as "Sevens House Beer". Malty with some nice roasty toast flavor. A good session beer.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours translucent brown with crimson hightlights with 3/4" tan head. Good small bubble lacing, medium/light body, and medium/light carbonation. Taste is roasted malt, some nut, a little off taste, and bitter finish. Not a fan.

12 oz bottle. It pours a nice dark brown color with a little head. The smell is of roasted malts with hint of hops. Flavor of chocolate, a hint of coffee flavor, roasted malts, and Earthy hops. Had a metallic or wood like taste in the finish. Medium in body with a good amount of drinkability. I was pleasantly surprised by this one.

Clear deep red to ruby brown beer, aery beige to brown head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: caramel, toast, basement (yeast), ripe fruits, mocha. MF: good carbon, medium body. Taste: caramel malts, mocha, some tart apple skin, nutty. Aftertaste: toast, nuts, dry spicy ending. Not the best, but definitely a good brew.

(bottle, 35.5cl, courtesy of Jonas) Clear, chestnut-brown colour with a beige mid-sized foamy head. Sweet and roasted malty aroma with burnt notes, caramel and bread crusts. Roasty bitter and slightly sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a mild carbonation. A bit slim roasty malty base with notes of caramel, dark bread and an earthy touch; quite dry and bitter roasty malty finish. A decent Schwarzbier-like Dunkel. 25.I.11

Bottlen (big thanks to joss!): Clear, deep amber coloured with a medium-sized lacy off-white head; moderate sweet dark-malty and distinctively toasty-roasty nose; moderate sweet-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; sweet dark-malty finish with a increasing roasty, almost smoky bitterness in the aftertaste. Nice and dry Dunkel......

Draught at their Logan Airport Taproom. Roasty, more like a scwarz or stout aroma. Same with the flavor. Shows chocolate and some coffee. Nice mouthfeel. Minerally, though, and slightly watery. Ok.
