Tuborg Red was Tuborg's very first beer, originally brewed for the first time in 1875 under the name lager beer. It quickly was given the nickname 'Tuborger.' Later, the brew became popularly know as 'Red' and before long, lager beer was never called anything other than Red Tuborg.
Despite loyal supporters, the sales of Red Tuborg are not high enough for it to stay on the Danish market and therefore, in 2002, it is taken out of production completely. After several years of absence and at the request of customers and consumers, Red Tuborg is relaunched in 2007 on the occasion of Tuborg's birthday on May 13. Since then, Red Tuborg has been on the market every year during the month of May to mark the birthday of Tuborg.
Red Tuborg is a dark, bottom-fermented lager beer that comes from Barvaria in Germany. Red Tuborg is a so-called all-malt beer, meaning that only malt and no raw grains (maize) are used. Four types of malt is used: münchener malt, pilsner malt and a bit of caramel and color malt. Together, these ingredients give the Tuborg yeast the distinctive reddish color, a very rich flavor and a rich foam. Ever since 1875, the Red Tuborg recipe has stayed the same.

Bottle, 4.3%. Clear chestnut colour, small light brown head. OK roasted and malty flavour with dusty notes, almost as good as I remember it. Slightly thin mouthfeel. Not much aftertaste, a little roastiness.

Bottled at Københavnske Øldage. Clear, copper body, and a minimal off-white head. Grainy nose with caramel and some hops. Grainy and caramel flavor. Too thin body and a short, grainy finish. It’s definately a quaffable beer, but it’s too boring to ring my bells. I guess it was a welcomed return for lots of Danes, and it is certainly better than the regular Tuborg (Grøn), but that’s it. Rating: 4-4-4-2-9-2.3. (070511)
Bottle. It pours a clear, copper body with a diminishing, fingerthick, off-white head. Cute lacings. Malt and caramel in the aroma, some dried fruit too, but overall quite weak. Thin in the mouth, with a pleasant level of carbonation. Not much going on flavorwise either, but caramel, dried fruits, a little roasted touch and some hops are present. Some bitterness too, especially towards the finish. Not bad, just boring and not flavorful enough. (081026)

From 33 cL bottle. Pours mahogany brown/red with a white head. Aroma is sweet malty, sugary and has a soft fruity note. Flavour is a strong bread like malt flavour with a cane sugar like sweetness. Has a distinct malty dry and slight bitter finish.

Bottle. A very good danish dunkel. A nice balance between malts and caramel. Bad this one was dropped from the product line. Did get my last one a couple of years ago.
