(swing top bottle) Clear, chestnut-brown colour with a short foamy off-white head. Slightly sweet toast-malty, nutty aroma with spicy, leafy and woody notes. Moderately sweet flavour, medium bodied with a smooth carbonation. Slightly toasted, nutty and leafy taste; moderately sweet malty finish with a raisin-fruity aftertaste. The alcohol is warming but de facto not detectable. Quaffable Doppelbock (28.12.06).

Flip-top bottle: Amber coloured, quite firm mid-sized off-white head; sweet malty, yeasty ("wooden"), spicy, slightly hoppy nose; delicate sweet flavour, medium bodied; slightly finish finish with raisins and almonds, well hidden, but a little bit warming, brandy-like alcohol, very late bitterness. A deceptive, moreish, dangerous Doppelbock....

Deep mahogany beer under medium yellow-brown head, fast reduced to rim. Very heavy dark malts, dissolved in rainwater. Later mix of coffee, bread and parsley installing itself. Very evenly balance of bitterish and sweet with licorice, brandy- and other vinous flavours, caramel & molasses. Ending sweet, but pretty complex all the same. Quite well bodied, alcohol obvious, certain dry-out effect on swallowing. Some Barley wine connotations, very good Doppelbock, this!

Amber-brown colour. Brown sugar & light molasses aroma. Sweet flavour with ligth chocolate. There is almost a light tartness there as well in the finish, alongside more brown sugar.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear orangey brown with an off-white head. Sweetish, caramelish, lightly vinous nose. Full body with accents of caramel and sweet sherry and some toffee. Lovely. 050506

A deep red beer with an orange head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of caramel, but also light notes of alcohol and wood. The flavor is very sweet and totally dominated by caramel.

Bottled (BB 09/2006)
Nut brown color, small brownish head. Sugary, caramelly, glue-like aroma. Alcoholic start, sugary, nice malty profile in the background, long alcoholic and a bit harsh finish. Unbalanced "dunkel on drugs".

Caramel, burned sugar and hop bitterness in the aroma. Red chestnut colour, low creamy head. Sweet solid malt body, some hop bitterness, sherry warmth. Velvet mouthfeel with a slight tinkle on the tongue. Sweet but not cloying malty aftertaste. Very nice doppelbock - The brewers at Faust know their stuff.
