Gruut White beer is very aromatic with a fragant fruity smell and a slightly herbaceous sharpness. The body is light, but soft. Thanks to the spices, the flavors are ‘round’, very fine and complex. The first impression is a spicy dryness, but there is also a slight, creamy sweetness underlying.

Sample at the brewery. Very pale milky color hazed white head. Aroma is wheaty, floury and spiced with orange mostly, spruce, pink pepper, mint/herbs. Taste sweet light tart, thin watery body, soft carb, easy to drink. Finish is like vine sprouts. A peculiar wit feels historical somehow, ancient style. No hops i think.

From 33cl bottle, at Nud e Crud, Rimini, Italy. Pours pale yellow with white fine head. Aroma is citrus/orange, esters from typical Belgian beer quite noticeable. Body is light and medium carbonation. Taste is tendentially sweet, with some citrusy feeling evident. Finish is short and pleasant.

Sweetish, a little sourish, moderately fruity and slightly spicy aroma of lemon zest, coriander, some banana and a touch of clove. Sweetish, slightly sourish, fruity and a bit spicy taste of lemon zest, coriander, some banana and hints of cloves, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a bit tart and minimally yeasty-spicy finish. Thin to medium body, smooth, slightly effervescent and minimally astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice Wit!
