Cloudy brown,large slightly rocky beige head.Winey fruity nose.Intitially nothing, then some light malt with a strange bitter end. None of the sourness noted by others is evident.This really isn't a Porter. I don't care for this, but thanks Cap!!!

Murky dark beer with slight bitter chocolate nose. Roasted malt in mouth with a an astringence which is unpleasant. Almost metaliic, like liking a iron fence post. Sourness seems to indicate the beer may be off, whcih has been stated many times for this beer in ON.

[Bottle conditioned] Slight aroma with hints of sweetness, roasty, and a little sour - yet fresh. The color is an opaque dark brown and it has no head. The flavor is sweet and somewhat sour with notes of lingonberries and hints of roasted malt. The sourness lingers for a while. I agree with duff, that it is a little like a Belgian sour ale and less like a normal porter but is still a really nice beer.

Last time I had this, it was side-by-side with Harvey Porter and sometimes I get the two confused in my head. Except the sourness. That''s all Burton. Muddy chestnut colour, no head. Weird aroma of vinous bretty notes, and ripe fruit...not a particular fruit but like going to a green grocer during harvest season. Palate is light, slightly acidic in the finish, fruity...honestly this straddles the line between an old-school porter ( a rare thing these days) and an old ale. An enjoyable beer, but even if it''s not your bag, it''s unique regardless. Better by far than the sum of its parts.

Sampled cask conditioned. Very dark brown. Earthy, murky, roasty nose with hints of licorice, which dips into a short, slightly water mouthfeel, and a salty really bitter finish. Dry and medium bodied. I have also on two occassions sampled the bottled version, but unfortunately it was Cantillon style acidic on both occasions.
