Go gold or go home. Made from dazzling Maris Otter malt, our exceptional golden ale won’t disappoint. Part bitter, part sweet, 100% refreshing. Fearlessly brewed, this is a well-balanced, full-bodied golden beer with a subtle floral and herby aroma. A true Bristol sunset in a bottle, worth its weight in gold.

Hand-pulled pint in the excellent ’Railway Buildings’ on Codsall railway station: 17 Nov 2012. Cracking looking beer: bright body of golden amber colour with a good head that stayed the distance as the beer level slid down my UK sleeve glass. The aroma was thin and although there was a mini-blend of malt and hop notes there wasn’t enough to pick out any clear smells to pontificate about. The taste is a well balanced mix of semi-sweet maltiness and a woody, nutty feel with a mild hop bitterness under the surface at all times and rising towards the end of each sip. Pleased I found a cask version: thought it might be better than the bottled one and I was right.

Cask. Deep golden colour with mediumsized white fluffy head that leaves some slight lace and also lasts for quite a while. Aroma is honey, fruits, some floral notes as well as mild wood and earth. Flavour is caramel malts along with wood and some fruits. Finish has some semidry grassyness in it. Pleasant and drainkable.

2nd September 2007. On tap. Slightly watery palate. The hops provide an orangey undertone. Light carbonation. Actually not that bitter.

Cask-conditioned at the Inn on the Green, Bristol 19/2/08. This was at the new ABV of 4.4%. Pale amber with a slight white head. Aroma of orange fruit, caramel and citrus hops. Flavour had a biscuit malt edge before a hoppy, dry finish. Enjoyable.

(Cask at Market Porter, Borough, London 28 Apr 2007) Golden amber colour with brief white head. Fruity nose with notes of orange, marmalade and earthy hops. Fruity taste with orange, mandarin and dry earthy hops in the rather bitter finish. Very nice one.
