Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a pinkish head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of cherries as well as light notes of spices. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of spices, but also light notes of the cherries.

[At Jyske Øldage 2004, Kolding] A red beer with no head. The aroma is artificial of cherries. The flavor is totally dominated by cherries and quite artificial.

Draught at BBF07. Nice deep red colour. Almost no head. The flavour is quite sweet, distinct cherry. Slightly citric. Could have been worse.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, reddish amber with a rough, pinkish head. Weak cherry aroma. Medium body with sweet cherry notes neatly balanced by an underlying acidity. Quite decent. 270707
Earlier Rating: 7/15/2005 Total Score: 2.8
(Bottle 50 cl) Lovely, deep red colour - slightly hazy - with a pinkish head. Pronouced, sweetish cherry aroma. Also the flavours are full of cherries on a rather dry background but no real bitterness. Weirdly the label claims this is based on a Bock beer, but you don’t really get the fullness or the body of this beer. Also elderberry juice is added. But all in all a fairly decent fruit beer. The only German of it’s style? 150705

Bottle at Københavnske Øldage. Deep red, clear beer with some white bubbles for a head. Weak nose with cherry, marzipan and cherry stones. Beery flavor, with cherry, almond and marzipan. Medium, sweetish mouthfeel, and a pilsner-like and cherry finish. Very drinkable, probably thirst-quenching, but I don’t find it interesting at all as a fruit beer. (070512)

Huge pink fluffy head, leaving beautiful lace, over unclear red-brown beer. Very fruity nose, but as concentrated juice, rather than as fruit. Sweet, and very intense, slightly spiced. Outspoken taste of gingerbread, overpowering even the fruit, which is mainly cherry, though I can believe the elderberry. Cinnamon, clove and brown sugar - very sweet. Quite slick & well- even richbodied. Sticky aftertaste. I have said it, and I will repeat it. The brewmaster at Neuzeller is on a crusade against the Reinheitsgebot, which, in itself, is OK. But he does it for all the wrong reasons, and THIS beer is the perfect proof for that.

Test vom 7.11.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,5,5,3,12,4 - 4,95

Bottled: Amber coloured with distinctive red notes, hazy, reddish head; fruity nose with some traces of alcohol; sweet and fruity beginning, cherry flavour with a tinge of malt; short drier aftertaste, nearly no hints of bitterness, traces of elderberries; not really bad, but a bit too sweet and too uni-dimensional, lacks complexity.....
