Darkside IPA is a 5.2% ABV American Style IPA, the beer pours a deep amber in colour, with a frothy thick head. Brewed using Irish Barley and Wheat, Darkside IPA is a massively hoppy beer with Magnum, Chinook, Cascade and Summit Hops providing a smack of citrus and pine on the palate with a heavy floral note. Embrace the darker side of beer!

Hazy deep amber colour, good frothy off-white head, dissipating slowly, good lacing. Aroma pale malt, caramel, soms basement, lemon, grainy touch. Taste medium sweet and bitter, malty, grainy, light caramel. Malty sweetbitter aftertaste, burnt caramel, earthy notes, soms orange pith. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, bit coarse and unbalanced yet pleasant to drink.

Bottle @ Egan’s, Moate [280116]
Amber, clear, big frothy white head, good lacing
Aroma of piney hops, some orange, not too much caramel which is good, soft hop resins
Taste of pine hops, fairly sharp citrus zest, sweet fruity malts, again caramel not over done, hoppy, decent enough
Palate - Soft carb, medium body, good mouthfeel, soft sweet fairly bitter, good balance. Finish is bitter hops with quite sweet malts underneath
Overall - More hoppy that usual from Bru - best yet I’ve had from them. Did expect it to be a black IPA from the label

Bottle sample at a tasting at Beer Bazaar Yishkon. Thanks Tom L. Clear amber. Aroma of stale malt, minerals, a bit of earthy hops, and a fruity note. Sweetish flavor with dusty malt, minerals, earthy hops bitterness. Medium-bodied. Doesn’t smell or taste like an IPA.
